Children under 5

More than 200 million children under five remain physically and mentally under-developed as they cannot unfold their full potential and lack basic rights and resources. Poverty, malnutrition, disease and insufficient care lead to abnormally high child mortality. Two thirds of these vulnerable children live in developing countries. Because the first five years (and especially the first two years) are so crucial for the development of children, interventions aimed at improving their conditions during that early stage can go a long way to ameliorate their future prospects.

The care for the small child is perhaps the most important focus of World Vision Germany in its endeavour to improve the situation of children in poor societies and to help them have a future worth living.
