Current Projects



Currently, the following research projects are being commissioned by the WV Institute:

Research Project "Social Innovation in Germany"
As of 15th August 2011, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has confirmed its funding support for a two-year basic research project that looks into “Social Innovation in Germany”. The project is carried out jointly by the World Vision Institute and its university partner, the European Business School (EBS) who for this purpose have collaborated to create the Center for Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship. The World Vision Foundation is the official funding recipient, while the project is managed by the Institute.

Third German Children's Study
Since the end of 2011 preparations are under way for the Third German Children's Study (World Vision Kinderstudie) which is to be published in fall 2013. Its focus will be on the topic of "Justice".

International Survey of Children´s Well-Being

Having learnt valuable lessons from the second run of the World Vision Children Study in Germany (Kinderstudie 2007 and 2010), especially with regard to the scientific value of surveying children on their subjective well-being, the World Vision Institute is currently co-operating with the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)  for the purpose of preparing, and carrying out, an international survey of children´s subjective well-beeing.

In November 2010, Dr. Helge Braun, State Secretary of the German Ministry of Education and Research, visited the World Vision Institute to talk with Christoph Waffenschmidt, CEO of WV Germany, and Dr. Hartmut Kopf, Director of WV Institute, about the work of the institute, notably the upcoming international Children's Study on subjective child well-being (photo).


Mentoring Programme at the University Mannheim

Upon the request of the professorship for Business Administration, Public and Nonprofit Management, the World Vision Institute has adopted, since July 2010, the task of mentoring students at the University of Mannheim. Mentoring Programme


Other Research Projects and Doctoral Studies
Currently, the WV Institute is facilitating theses in the areas of business administration, marketing and international social services as well as doctoral projects in the fields of communications, social studies and business administration.
